Our Graffiti Removal Method

The longer graffiti stays up, the more it invites more.

Different surfaces and different types of paint need different approaches. We use specialized graffiti removal chemicals, hot water pressure washing, and the right technique for each surface. The goal is complete removal without damaging what's underneath.

01

Assess the surface and the medium

Spray paint on rough brick is a different job than marker on smooth metal. We pick the right chemical and method for the combination.

02

Specialty graffiti remover

Commercial-grade graffiti chemicals dissolve spray paint, markers, shoe polish, stickers, and wheat paste without eating into the surface underneath.

03

Hot water pressure rinse

Hot water lifts the dissolved paint off the surface. Right pressure for the material so brick stays brick and paint stays paint.

04

Color-match and touch up

On painted walls we color-match and touch up after removal. You shouldn't be able to tell anything was ever there.

05

Optional anti-graffiti coating

A clear protective layer. If your property gets tagged again, the paint sits on top of the coating instead of bonding. Next removal takes a fraction of the time and cost.

A weekend rescue story

A vandal hit them Friday night. We had it gone Saturday morning.

A small business in Lexington got hit with spray paint on the back of the building one weekend. Big tag across about ten feet of brick. The owner found it Saturday morning when she opened up. She called us by nine. She was worried that customers walking past the parking lot would see it and that the city might fine her for it.

We were on site at ten. Brick takes a specific approach. You cannot just blast it because the spray paint can drive deeper into the porous surface. You have to use a graffiti remover that lifts the paint out of the pores, dwell, then rinse hot. By noon the brick looked the way it did before the tag.

She called us again that night to thank us. Then a week later asked if we could put her on an annual cleaning schedule. Sometimes the worst day for a business owner is also how they find a vendor they trust.

Chemistry first

Why graffiti removal is different from regular pressure washing.

Pressure washing alone will not remove spray paint from a porous surface. The paint has already soaked into the brick, the concrete, or the stone. Blasting it with high pressure drives some of the paint deeper and damages the substrate.

We use a graffiti specific remover that draws the paint back out of the pores. It dwells, the paint comes loose at the molecular level, and then we rinse hot. Sometimes one application is enough. Sometimes it takes two or three on layered tags. We bring the chemistry and the patience for whichever it is.

For repeat target buildings we can apply a sacrificial graffiti coating that makes future cleanup a single pass job. We have done this for several businesses near campus and downtown.

★★★★★

Both Sales and the applicators were very knowledgeable and very polite. Both took the time to explain items of concern. Would definitely recommend Prowash to all my friends
