Our Fence Cleaning Method

High pressure is how wood fences get ruined. We don't clean wood that way.

Wood and vinyl need two different approaches. Vinyl gets a soft wash and a rinse. Wood gets low pressure and a brightener, because pressure tears the soft grain out and leaves the board fuzzy. We match the method to the material every time.

Grass, beds, and anything planted along the fence line gets soaked before we mix a drop of solution, and again after we rinse.

Vinyl and aluminum get a soft wash with no pressure on the panel. Wood gets low pressure and chemistry. Same fence, two different jobs.

Wood gets an oxalic acid-based brightener after cleaning. It stops the cleaner from working and pulls the natural tone back out of the gray.

Fence cleaning is priced by linear foot and by material. Wood takes longer than vinyl because of the brightening step. We walk the fence line and quote the whole thing before we start.

If you're planning to stain the fence, it has to be cleaned and dried first. We handle both.

Will pressure washing damage my wood fence?+
It can, and we see it all the time. High pressure tears the soft grain out from between the hard grain and leaves the board fuzzy. That's furring, and sanding is the only fix. We clean wood at low pressure and let the chemistry do the work.
Do you clean both sides?+
Yes, always. A fence has two faces and your neighbor looks at one of them. Gates, posts, and rails too.
Can you make my gray fence look new again?+
Usually we get most of it back. The gray is weathered surface fiber and a brightener pulls the natural tone up underneath it. If the wood is far gone or has been furred before, we'll be honest with you about what to expect.
Can you stain it after?+
Yes. Cleaning has to come first and the wood needs to dry, usually a couple of days depending on weather. We do the staining as a separate step.
Is it safe for my plants?+
Yes. Everything along the fence line gets soaked before we start and rinsed again when we finish. That's standard on every job we do.
How often does a fence need cleaning?+
Wood about once a year in our humidity. Vinyl every year or two. North-facing runs and anything under trees go faster than the rest.
